Prime Minister Vladimir Putin expresses his deep condolences to the loved ones of Vasily Alexeyev, a Soviet athlete, twice Olympic Champion and Merited Coach of the USSR, on his death on November 25

The message of condolences reads, in part:

"Vasily Alexeyev was a legendary representative of the national weightlifting school, an unsurpassed winner and champion, and a true Russian hero. His departure is a vast and irretrievable loss for his loved ones, for the Olympic family and for Russian sports."
