Prime Minister Vladimir Putin sends his condolences to the family and friends of the outstanding football player and manager Valentin Ivanov on his death

The message of condolence reads, in part:

"We have lost a talented and dedicated man, a genuine professional boundlessly devoted to the activity he loved. Valentin Ivanov belonged to a constellation of enthusiasts infinitely committed to their favourite activity, true professionals who dedicated their lives to sport. His name is rightfully associated with the triumphant victories of our national team at the highest level of competition.

The memory of Valentin Ivanov will forever remain in the hearts of his family, friends, the many people to whom he was a mentor, and everyone who takes pride in the history of Russian football."
