Prime Minister Vladimir Putin congratulates chairmen of Russia’s Muslim boards with Kurban Bairam
The message of greetings reads, in part:
"I'd like to congratulate you with one of the most revered Muslim festivals – Kurban Bairam that embodies the completion of pilgrimage to holy places – hadj.
Millions of Russian Muslims celebrate this festival in their communities and families. This respect for centuries-long spiritual traditions is bringing people together and helps them assert the ideals of unity, kindness and mercy. Importantly, the federal and regional authorities are helping people to organize the hadj and conduct festivities.
The Muslim community of Russia is taking an active part in the life of this country and making a tangible contribution to the moral upbringing of the younger generation and the promotion of dialogue between different religions. Its activities are very important for maintaining interethnic peace and civil accord in society.
