Prime Minister Vladimir Putin sends a message of greetings to participants and guests of the 5th Far Eastern International Economic Forum

Vladimir Putin's message reads, in part:

"Members of the world business community, senior government officials, academics and analysts regard this forum as an authoritative platform for meaningful discussions of some of the key economic problems faced by Russia, notably its Siberian and Far Eastern regions. They value the forum's positive assets and the traditions it has developed over the years.

"Let me emphasise that boosting the Russian Far East's development, enhancing the region's investment appeal, and helping it realise its rich industrial, natural and labour potential are among the state's major priorities. Dozens of ambitious projects have already been launched to improve the region's energy and transport infrastructure, to modernise its sea ports and air terminals, and to create here modern high-tech production lines and new jobs. Much is being done to solve pressing social problems as well as problems with housing and utilities. Our priority plans include moves to broaden international cooperation and to consolidate business and cultural contacts across Asia and the Pacific Rim.

"I am sure the forum will result in some useful, much-needed initiatives and competent managerial solutions to benefit the inhabitants of Russia's eastern regions and of the country at large."
