"This year, we celebrate a significant anniversary of this remarkable professional holiday: 55 years ago, our country saw the beginning of an unprecedented program for industrial-scale mass housing construction. Over the years, the creative and constructive labour of many generations of architects, planners and workers has helped build not only tens of thousands of homes, but also industrial, energy, public and cultural infrastructure.
It is gratifying that today, Russian builders are carefully preserving and expanding upon existing labour traditions, that they are extensively using their accumulated experience and introducing advanced, environmentally friendly and safe technology. They are improving training and successfully resolving modernisation issues. Your most important priorities are to make new, substantial and qualitative improvements in the construction industry, to achieve significant increases in housing construction and to make housing more affordable for Russian families. And, of course, there is much be done to implement major infrastructure and industrial projects in all regions of the country."
