During the conversation initiated by the Russian side, Vladimir Putin and José Manuel Barroso discussed outstanding issues related to Russia's accession to the World Trade Organisation.

The Russian prime minister confirmed the country's intentions to join the organisation and emphasised the need for both sides to intensify the negotiations even during the ongoing summer holiday period.
