Prime Minister Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with Greek Prime Minister Georgios Papandreou, at Mr Papandreou’s initiative

Prime Minister Vladimir Putin and his Greek counterpart, Georgios Papandreou, discussed the troubled economy in Greece and issues of international financial support, including the support from the International Monetary Fund.

Both Prime Ministers mentioned the positive level of Russian-Greek cooperation in various fields.

Georgios Papandreou thanked Russia for its input with the International Monetary Fund and expressed confidence that Greece would overcome its current financial difficulties soon.

The Greek Prime Minister invited Prime Minister Vladimir Putin to visit Greece at his convenience.
