Prime Minister Vladimir Putin congratulates fishing industry workers and veterans on their professional holiday, Fisherman’s Day
The message reads in part:
The fishing industry plays a key role in the Russian economy. This sector has a great industrial and technological capacity and solid human potential. It employs highly qualified professionals, who know and love their job, and are fully aware of the need to treat the country's natural resources efficiently and responsibly.
Today, we are faced with many serious challenges in modernising the fishing industry, to strengthen its competitiveness and investment attractiveness, and to create new jobs. I also want to specifically address the amateur fishing issue that concerns many people and has been in the headlines recently. I am convinced that the government must create the necessary conditions for this popular recreation to remain available to all consumers and to organise it in accordance with modern, responsible standards.
