The message reads, in part:
"The traditional St Petersburg Maritime Defence Show ranks among the largest and most prestigious international exhibitions of naval equipment and weapons in the world. It invariably attracts the attention of leading Russian and foreign companies who are involved with producing warships and speedboats, weapons systems and various types of military products. The fact that the forum is traditionally held in St Petersburg on the Neva River gives it a special status and significance. This is because St Petersburg had for centuries been Russia's maritime capital and a recognised centre for shipbuilding, maritime science and education. The city has a unique port infrastructure, whose piers can accommodate the most advanced ships.
"I am confident that the Fifth International Maritime Defence Show will display the latest achievements and innovations in naval technology, facilitate Russia's expanded military-technical cooperation with foreign countries and also strengthen mutual co-production arrangements."
