Prime Minister Vladimir Putin sends a welcome message to the participants and guests of the international workshop conference “Russian National Statistics and Challenges of the 21st Century”

The message reads, in part:

"I would like to welcome the participants and guests of the workshop conference dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the Russian Statistics Service.

"Over the years this organisation has come a long way – it has gained the respect of the professional community and now occupies a worthy place in the system of government management. It has been the source of the most comprehensive and objective information on basic economic parameters and the most important social and demographic indicators. The results of your labour have laid the foundation for key management decisions, long-term forecasts and large-scale development programmes and projects.

"I believe the conference will be a success, and that it will contribute to the improvement of government statistical analysis and accounting."
