Prime Minister Vladimir Putin sends a message greeting the delegates and guests of the 2nd Congress of the National Milk Producers Union
The message reads, in part:
"You are meeting to discuss the problems and prospects of one of the key industries of Russia's agricultural sector. It is no exaggeration to say that livestock and milk production must play the leading role in making Russia food-independent, in the harmonious development of our rural areas and in improving agricultural workers' quality of life. That is why effective support for this industry is an undoubted priority.
"We must help all kinds of enterprises – from large agricultural complexes to farms and individual farmers – recover from two years of bad harvests. We must preserve our producers' enormous potential for growth. We must make the industry more efficient and competitive. Special attention must be paid to creating a modern market infrastructure, including processing and ensuring market access for quality domestic products. We will solve these problems in close cooperation with your association."
