Prime Minister Vladimir Putin congratulates the employees and retired staff of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on their professional holiday – Diplomat’s Day

The message reads, in part:

“Russian diplomacy is distinguished by wonderful, time-tested traditions and, most importantly, its highly skilled staff. The high honour of being a Russian diplomat has always entailed a selfless service to our motherland, devotion to the vocation, a high level of competence and a strong sense of responsibility.

The ministry’s employees are creatively building on the experience of their predecessors for further improvement, making their contribution to the cause of enhancing global security and stability, and forming a new, more just and democratic, system of international relations. Today, our diplomats, the entire diplomatic service, should concentrate even more on creating external conditions conducive to the successful socio-economic development of the country, strengthening the innovation and high-tech sectors of the economy and building effective cooperation with all foreign partners. And, of course, they should provide support for Russian companies and enterprises operating internationally and ensure overall protection of the rights and interests of our citizens, in Russia and abroad.

I am confident that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the diplomatic and consular offices will continue working hard to effectively resolve the major international issues that face our country. There is no doubt in my mind that the prestige of the Russian diplomatic school will continue to grow.”
