Prime Minister Vladimir Putin sends his greetings to the attendees of a grand meeting marking the 100th birthday of Academician Mstislav Keldysh
The message reads, in part:
“Today marks the 100th birthday of Mstislav Keldysh, a bright, extraordinary and gifted person and a distinguished scientist. Keldysh is deservedly noted for his breakthrough discoveries and achievements in mathematics and mechanics, as well as in thermonuclear fusion, nuclear physics, and space exploration. His extensive personal contribution to establishing and developing such scientific fields as cybernetics, quantum electronics, molecular biology, and genetics, which have proved to be sought-after in our country, deserves high recognition, as do the prolific and fruitful activities he performed as president of the national Academy of Sciences.
“Through decades of significant and profound work, Keldysh was noted for his consistent professional skills and personal qualities, as well as for his unparalleled organisational talent and ability to unify his colleagues in achieving a common goal, while providing support and encouragement in any situation.
“I am certain that today’s generation of Russian scientists will cherish and foster the wonderful traditions established by their legendary predecessors.”
