My greetings to participants and guests of the 1000th meeting of the State Duma.
This landmark event marks years of painstaking efforts to establish Russian parliamentarism and strengthen the legal foundations of the life of society and the state. The State Duma hall has more than once become an arena for heated discussions, sharp disputes and clashes of opinion. But deputies of all Duma's and advocates of different political views have always been united by a sincere desire to work for the good of Russia, in the interest of its citizens.
Implementation of strategic plans for the country's development requires the closest possible cooperation between legislative and executive branches of authority. I therefore expect the State Duma and the Russian Government to continue to act as reliable and constructive partners.
