Prime Minister Vladimir Putin spoke by telephone with U.S. President George W. Bush

Mr Bush congratulated Mr Putin on his appointment as Prime Minister.
In the course of the conversation, Mr Putin and Mr Bush went on record in support of continuity in Russian-American relations and for further dialogue between the two Presidents.
Mr Putin and Mr Bush agreed to meet during the opening of the Olympic Games in Beijing, said the press-secretary of the Russian Prime Minister.
The conversation was held on the initiative of the American side.
