Prime Minister Vladimir Putin congratulates the residents of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Area on its 80th anniversary

The message reads, in part:

"You can be proud of Yamal, its culture, the traditions and customs of the people and, of course, the contribution the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Area made to the development of strategically important sectors of the national economy and the building of the country's energy security. Behind these indisputable achievements is the self-sacrificing toil of several generations of oil and gas workers, geologists, builders – all of them real professionals devoted to their vocation. We are truly grateful to the teachers, to those who work in healthcare and the arts, to everyone who lives in this area with its harsh climate who helped to transform it into one of the most rapidly developing and successful parts of the country."
