Prime Minister Vladimir Putin sends greetings to residents of Yugra, in the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area, –on the 80th anniversary of the region

The message reads, in part:

"This anniversary is a great occasion to look back at Yugra's history and acknowledge the unique contribution by local residents to preserve and expand Russia's multi-cultural heritage. It is the perfect occasion to recall several generations of Yugra people. Their dedicated efforts and commitment have been a key to the development of Yugra's rich oil and gas deposits; it is because of them that modern cities and towns have replaced virgin lands and impassable bogs. You now enjoy modern schools and preschools, healthcare services and cultural centres, and high-tech infrastructure.

The Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area is a rapidly growing region of Russia, with solid industrial and human resource potential. Yugra residents are skilful and industrious workers, who eagerly promote and support the national economy and social programmes."
