Prime Minister Vladimir Putin greets the Fifth Congress of the Communication Workers Trade Union on the union’s 105th anniversary

The message reads, in part:

"Your trade union, one of the country's oldest public organisations, includes workers in information technology, telecommunications and the Russian Post among its members. For years the Russian Communication Workers Union has protected the rights and interests of workers in its sector while constructively cooperating with the government and business. It also greatly contributes to the stable and dynamic development of the telecommunications sector.

"Today the quality of people's lives, the solution of socio-economic and infrastructure problems and the country's security and defence largely depend on the professionalism and responsibility of communication workers. In fact, the future of the Russian economy depends on your work, which forms the basis of economic modernisation and technological renewal."
