Prime Minister Vladimir Putin congratulates the people of the Republic of Mari El on the 90th anniversary of its formation

The message of congratulations sent to Leonid Markelov, president of the Republic of Mari El, reads, in part:

"Mari El should be rightfully proud of its achievements as well as its glorious historical and cultural traditions. Chief among these are hard work, ethnic and religious harmony, and a sincere desire on the part of its people to improve their homeland.

"I am convinced that going forward, the talent, dedication and creativity of the people will allow the republic to develop rapidly and strengthen its economy and social services."
