Prime Minister Vladimir Putin congratulates the staff of the Ministry of Agriculture on Agricultural and Processing Industry Workers’ Day

The message, in part, reads as follows:

"You have made a significant contribution to the effective development of the food market and the strengthening of food independence with your daily hard work in one of the most important sectors of the national economy. In recent years, domestic agriculture has achieved some notable successes. Now a major grain exporter, Russia continues to increase milk and meat production, and has a growing number of livestock of cattle large and small.

Of course, the drought this year has posed a serious challenge for the rural community. Today, all the efforts of the government and businesses must focus on overcoming the consequences of an early crop failure. The industry has directed considerable resources to this and has implemented a package of financial, social, and infrastructural measures. I am convinced that these steps will allow us to quickly deal with existing problems and allow us to eventually return to having dynamic growth in agriculture. I want to stress that support for domestic agriculture and Russian producers will always be our unequivocal priority."
