Prime Minister Vladimir Putin congratulates Yaroslavl residents on the 1,000th anniversary of the city

The message of congratulations reads, in part:
"I congratulate you from my heart on the 1,000th anniversary of Yaroslavl. This city has earned a reputation as of one of the oldest and most beautiful Russian cities, a precious pearl in the unique Golden Ring of Russia. For many centuries it played an important role in developing and strengthening Russian national identity and witnessed great historical events. Since ancient times, people from Yaroslavl have been famous for their industriousness and warm hospitality and have always displayed persistence, endurance and courage in hard times.
Today's Yaroslavl is not merely a treasury of Old Russian architecture. This is a modern city, a large industrial, science, education and tourist centre. People here love working, are proud of the city's traditions and carefully preserve its invaluable historical and cultural heritage."
