Prime Minister Vladimir Putin congratulates all Russia’s Jewish citizens on Rosh Hashanah (New Year)

The message of congratulations, sent to Berel Lazar Russia's Chief Rabbi, reads in part:

"For Jews everywhere this feast symbolises spiritual purification and moral and religious self-improvement. This is the time to consider the outgoing year and plan for the future.

Russian Jews are doing a great deal to promote our country's development. Jewish religious organisations fruitfully engage in charity and are active in educational projects.

The Russian government attaches great significance to the comprehensive efforts of religious communities to promote inter-ethnic and inter-faith dialogue in our country, and to develop friendly ties between people of diverse religions.
I wish you and all Russia's Jewish citizens good health, wellbeing and joyous holidays."
