The Sheremetyev Hospital was one of Russia's first institutions to provide social support and medical assistance for the homeless and poor, becoming a symbol of mercy and selfless care. Throughout its history, it has remained a safe shelter for orphans, the homeless and those in need, providing medical aid for wounded soldiers during the trials of war and revolution. This hospital has contributed much to the development of clinical medicine over the years by introducing advanced treatment methods and establishing a solid scientific base which is today being successfully developed by the renowned Sklifosovsky Research Institute.
The benefits and ethical importance of the principles of patronship and charity bequeathed to us by the hospital's founders cannot be overestimated. It is highly important that we continue to keep and enrich these great traditions in Russia.
