Prime Minister Vladimir Putin welcomes organisers and participants to the 42nd meeting of the Communications Ministers Council of the Commonwealth in the Field of Communications

The message reads, in part:

"You have gathered here for a business-like, in-depth discussion of our work together in telecommunications and mass communications. Your discussion will focus on developing general approaches for improving information and telecommunications services, creating favourable conditions for carrying out joint projects and harmonising existing national laws.

One of the most important objectives facing our country today is introducing e-government services into the daily operation of government agencies. This will require high standards for communications services, an accessible and convenient system for use by citizens and measures to ensure the security and reliability of information transmitted.

I am sure that this meeting of the Board, like the previous meetings, will be productive and lead to practical suggestions and recommendations."
