Prime Minister Vladimir Putin signs a series of executive orders granting federal state autonomous university status to several Russian universities
The new universities include:
Ammosov North-Eastern Federal University (previously Ammosov Yakut State University);
Kazan Federal University, also known as Volga Federal University (previously Ulyanov-Lenin Kazan State University);
Boris Yeltsin Urals Federal University (previously Boris Yeltsin Urals State Technical University of Science and Technology);
Far Eastern Federal University (previously Far Eastern State University);
Northern Federal University, also known as Arctic Federal University (previously Arkhangelsk State Technical University).
The executive orders also name the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation as the founder of these autonomous universities.
