Prime Minister Vladimir Putin sends his condolences to Irina Dobrynina, the widow of diplomat Anatoly Dobrynin, on the sad occasion of his passing
The message reads, in part:
"Please accept my deepest condolences, sincere support and sympathy on the sad occasion of Mr Dobrynin's passing.
"A prominent statesman and diplomat, Mr Dobrynin was the symbol of an era in our foreign policy. He served this country with true devotion and defended its interests on the international stage in a very consistent manner.
"A special place in Mr Dobrynin's career was his work as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the United States for 24 years. This was one of the most difficult and dramatic periods in our relations with the U.S. Mr Dobrynin's diplomatic prowess and political foresight often helped in finding a way out of an impasse by resolving acute global problems at the negotiating table. Mr Dobrynin raised an array of Russian Americanists, sharing his vast experience and deep knowledge with them.
"This outstanding person will remain in our memory forever."
